IRCTC blocks 4.6L user IDs for e-ticket fraud..!!


The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which looks after online booking of tickets, has blocked over 4.6 lakh user IDs and 71,484 e-mail IDs since March to curb malpractices in train reservations.

Google is challenging Facebook domination by unveiling a new project called Google+ that it says will try to make online sharing more like real life.

"Google+ should give Blekko, Skype and a gaggle of group messaging companies a pause," said Om Malik, who has had an early view of the project.

Chrome 12 update closes "high-risk" holes..!!


Google has released version 12.0.742.112 of its Chrome web browser, a maintenance and security update for the Windows, Mac OS X and Linux versions, as well as Chrome Frame for Internet Explorer. According to Google, the update addresses a total of seven vulnerabilities, six of which are rated as 'high-risk'.

Apple releases Java for Mac OS X security updates..!!


Apple has released Java updates for versions 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard of its Mac OS X operating system. These updates patch a number of security holes and bring both versions of the OS up to date. The updates include the latest Java releases, including Java SE 6 Update 26, from earlier this month.

LulzSec denies attack on The Sun..!!


The Sun Online and other News International servers are reportedly the latest targets for hackers, although LulzSec has denied responsibility.

Suggesting that The Sun's coverage of the arrest and subsequent charging of Ryan Cleary on hacking offences has painted a target on News International, the Telegraph report puts forward the idea that LulzSec are responsible.

FBI targets cyber security scammers..!!


A gang that made more than $72m (£45m) peddling fake security software has been shut down in a series of raids.

Co-ordinated by the FBI, the raids were carried out in the US, UK and six other countries.

The money was made by selling software that claimed to find security risks on PCs and then asked for cash to fix the non-existent problems.

Japan to punish computer virus creators with fines, prison terms of up to three years..!!


Tokyo, June 21: Japan has passed a new law to combat cyber attacks, under which, creating or distributing a computer virus could now result into prison terms of up to three years or 500,000 yen in fine.

Under a new law enacted by parliament, police can seize e-mail communication logs of suspects from Internet service providers.

Turkish police arrest 32 in raids on Anonymous..!!


Police in Turkey have arrested 32 individuals allegedly connected to WikiLeaks-loving 'hacktivist' collective Anonymous, according to a report from the country's state-run news agency, Anatolia.

The suspects are reported to have been taken into custody after police raided properties in a dozen cities across Turkey.

Anonymous has been linked to recent attacks on Turkey's telecommunications watchdog, the BTK.
